About me

I am Lubaba Islam, a dedicated Nazrul Sangeet artist and teacher from Dhaka, now based in Sydney. My foundational training spans twelve years at the Nazrul Academy and Chhayanaut, under famous Nazrul exponents like Moidul Islam. I am currently under the mentorship of renowned artist Khairul Anam Shakil.

To broaden my musical scope, I have also trained in Hindustani Classical music. From 2014 to 2015, I studied under Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar at Bengal Parampara Sangeetalay. I am currently continuing my classical training under the guidance of the respected artist, Asit Dey.

A regular performer on Bangladeshi television, I now focus on cultural promotion and education in Australia. My passion is sharing this rich heritage through performances and by teaching the next generation.

In 2023, I won first prize for a Nazrul Sangeet performance at a competition organized by a South Asian cultural society (SAFAL) in Australia. I am also a regular contributing artist to the annual compilation "125 Artists from Two Bengals", organized by the Bangladesh Nazrul Sangeet Society.

In 2025, my solo album "Anjali Laho Mor" was released by Bengal Foundation.
